THE BENEDETTO PLAYERS:

“It's the only pickup that delivers the true sound of my guitar.”
Jimmy Bruno (B-7 on his 16" Benedetto 7-String, S-7 on his 17" Benedetto 7-string and B-7 on his Benedetto “benny 7”-string.

“Those Benedetto pickups are nice and clean - just like Bob's shop!”
Frank Vignola (S-6 on his Benedetto LaVenezia)

“The fattest sounding pickup I've ever used - it's incredibly warm and sings!”
Chris Standring (B-6 on his Benedetto Custom)

“The Benedetto S-6 pickup is the best floating pickup for acoustic archtop guitars that you can find on the market today. No matter if in the studio or on a live gig, I have always been impressed by its qualities. It manages to accurately reproduce the original acoustic sound of the instrument if played at a moderate volume level and sounds full, rich and more electric if you turn it up.”

“Regardless of what volume level you play, it always sounds very clear, alive, balanced and warm and picks up all details of the player's phrasing and the instrument's sound. I, of course, use it on my Benedetto “Manhattan” model but also on other acoustic archtops where the amplified sound has incredibly improved since equipped with the S-6.”
Joachim Shonecker, Cologne, Germany

“I truly love the sound of my S-7 pickup. It has all the warmth I always associate with a vintage jazz pickup. It's evenly balanced from the 1st to the 7th string and is as quiet as any pick-up I have ever used.”
Gerry Beaudoin (S-7 on both of his Benedetto 7-String Customs

“I tried all different kinds and the B-6 is by far the best sound I ever had - the tone is warm, “fat” and bites me back.”
Jack Wilkins (B-6 on his Benedetto Fratello)

“When the jazz guitarist thinks about the amplified sound he wants, he's looking for clarity and accuracy, a natural replication of the sound of his instruments, and musical warmth. The Benedetto S-7 provides all this, throughout the extended range required by the seven string guitar.”
Howard Alden
(S-7 on his LaVenezia 7-string and on both his Benedetto 7-String oval-hole guitars and a B-7 on his Bambino 7-string)
Hear Howard’s playing on Sony’s “Sweet and Lowdown,” the soundtrack for the acclaimed Woody Allen movie of the same name.

“The Benedetto S-7 pickup does a superb job of converting the Benedetto 7-string's rich acoustic sound into an electrical signal that is a faithful reproduction of that sound. The pickup response is smooth and balanced which permits me to play comfortably at any reasonable volume without worry about feedback. It also gets me compliments on the beautiful sound!”

Bill Neale, Marlton, New Jersey (S-6 on his Benedetto Manhattan)
“My Benedetto S-6 pick-up is a perfect match for my archtop guitar. It's powerful, quiet, yet — most importantly — the S-6 will enhance the natural voice of any acoustic archtop, not just my Benedetto.”
Bill was the guitarist for many popular artists including Will Smith, The Temptations, Sammy Davis, Jr., Teddy Pendergrass, Deniece Williams, Lou Rawls and received a Gold record for his solo work on Robert John's hit, “Sad Eyes.”

Rene Toledo, Miami, guitarist for Gloria Estefan (S-6 on his Benedetto Manhattan)

Howard Paul (S-7 on his Benedetto 7-String)
“I use Benedetto S-7 Floating Pickups on both my 17" Benedetto archtop and my Mortoro Starling laminated archtop. It is not unusual for people to literally line up during a break to compliment either instrument as being the best sounding guitar they've ever heard. With nothing but a volume control and a solid state amp (with flat settings), these pickups reflect the guitar's warmth and color in a manner that was previously unobtainable. Just incredible!”

Tim May, top LA studio guitarist plays the new Benedetto-Signature Artist Award with Benedetto Model S-6 pickup (see Tim in the new Guild 2000 catalog!)

The “Concord Jazz” Custom guitar is fitted with an S-6. This striking guitar (with the Concord Jazz logo inlaid in the headstock), was won by Dawn Mason in a contest to promote the debut of the 1996 Concord Jazz Guitar Collective CD.

The Benedetto Pickup is a standard on all Benedetto models handcrafted at the Guild Custom Shop in Nashville — the Manhattan, Fratello, Bambino, benny, benny 7 and LaVenezia (optional). Likewise, two Benedetto Model A-6's are standard on the new Guild “Benedetto-Signature” Stuart Model as is the S-6 model on the “Benedetto-Signature” Artist Award. Benedetto Pickups have been, and continue to be, popular replacement pickups for new and vintage archtop guitars.

Email custserve@fender.com for a free copy of the new Guild 2000 catalog. In it are photos of Benedetto pickups on the new Artist Award, Stuart as well as the benny 7 (a great shot of Jimmy Bruno on his benny 7 from Fender’s historical Guild JazzMasters/Benedetto Players concert at LA NAMM!)

The ubiquitous S-6 is also featured on the 16” green Benedetto Manhattan made for Benedetto’s daughter Gina – this guitar, which appears in Andy Summers Hot Licks video (and with which he performed at a 1997 Benedetto Players concert), was exhibited at the Seymour Duncan booth at NAMM 2000 in LA to debut the new Benedetto Pickup/Seymour Duncan relationship (this guitar, with the S-6, can be seen in The Acoustic Guitar book by Nick Freeth/Charles Alexander.)

The Benedetto Pickup “sound” can be heard on many recordings and at live performances at jazz festivals and clubs worldwide.

Other letters from those who have used our pickup as a replacement pickup or on a new guitar...

March 6, 2000
Dear Cindy and Bob, I have always liked the neck pickup in my Les Paul® since I got it 21 years ago. When I decided to build my own guitar, I was looking for the ultimate version of that sound. The Benedetto P.A.F. surpasses my expectations in all ways. When I wired up the guitar due to time considerations I only wired up the neck pickup. I was so satisfied I came real close to leaving the other two unwired! Not only did the Benedetto P.A.F. have all the warm and creamy tones I always enjoyed with the Gibson® P.A.F. it had a clarity that was inspiring. I've long admired Bob's beautiful guitars, and his pickups are a pure joy to play.
    Best Regards,
    James Tonguet

Gene Baker recently built me a 7-String with an S-7 pickup. Love the pickup — it makes the guitar sing like a bird. Thanks!
    Mike Sanders, Henderson, Nevada

Dear Cindy,
My Benedetto floating pickup is perfect for my L-7. The sound of the instrument, rather than the electronics, is emphasized, and I've never had a feedback or hum problem. It looks good, too — it's inconspicuous and blends in with the sunburst finish. In combination with the Benedetto ebony tailpiece that I had installed at the same time, the sound and playability of my instrument has been enhanced.
Best,     Peter Arnold, Consulting Editor, Miller Freeman

I truly love the sound of my S-7 pickup. It has all the warmth I always associate with a vintage jazz pickup. It's evenly balanced from the 1st to the 7th string and is as quiet as any pick-up I have ever used. I have played everyhing from D'Angelico's to Stromberg guitars in my career. None of them can compare to my two Benedetto 7-string guitars. Light and responsive acoustically , they both have superb tone and volume that contribute a uniqueness to my own jazz guitar sound. As far as beauty and craftsmanship they compare in my eyes to a Michelangelo or a da Vinci work of art. I create my art using the creation of a truly great artist, Bob Benedetto.
